When you want your code to perform better, i would always suggest to learn how to optimize your already existing code, rather than jumping to the next tech-stack, because that will probably make things just worse. That's true, but between the performance of Go and Python there's a world of difference, springing from the fact that one is compiled and the other is interpreted.

Have a FGD Wiki again?

So it would be relatively simple to host a Bookstack or Dokuwiki again to collaborate and host some FOSS game dev related tutorials or something like that.History with the old one shows that it was never much used and basically became outdated soon after we set it up, so I am not really convinced it is worth the effort. But maybe you have some good arguments for setting one up?Sadly there isn't a wiki mode in Flarum like there is for Discourse.

Welcome to our new forums

The server this forum is hosted on right now is strangely experiencing some slow-downs in database access. Behind the scenes, the game now keeps track of all ongoing mining operations. Mining is done from orbit, the ship just has to be close enough to planet and the drones will land and do the actual mining. Planets in reach are now listen in the cockpit HUD.Upon selection of a planet or moon, the mining panel will open, where the play can scan the planet for resources (better scanners will show more results, but right now there is only one type of scanner), and one can launch drones to actually do the mining. There is still some work left to do. The list selection is missing, so right now always the first drone is sent to mine the first metal found. And the mining operations are not saved yet with the game ... furthermore the drone recall is not working yet. I hope to get that done during the next days. Real life keeps me busy.Edit: I think it's all done, except for bugs that I didn't notice yet. Resource and drone selection works, drone launch and recall works too.

Savage Wheels

Savage Wheels is a 2D car crashing arcade game. You take part of a deadly tournament, the goal of which, is to eliminate all other derby contestants. Players may choose from a variety of vehicles, each vehicle has an unique driver and characteristics like speed, acceleration, armor and damage. Various bonuses may be collected during each match to increase your vehicle's speed, damage or to repair it. Gameplay modes include a campaign, hot-seat mode between two players or a melee mode where vehicles are controlled by fearsome AI opponents. All vehicle drivers have background stories which are uncovered in the campaign mode.Compiled releases are provided for Windows and Linux, and there is an AUR image too. The project is released under the MIT license, and is built with SDL. Although it last saw development in 2016, it has been pretty well worked on over the years.

Any good resources for Quake engine development?

There are some people which might know their part on irc://libera.chat#unvanquished-dev, too. Not 100% sure what the latest info on that is.But to be honest, except for locked down bootloader issues on some ARM platforms I don't really see much of a difference to Risc-V etc from a user and software developer perspective. It seems the open-ness around those is mainly interesting for chip producers and those abuse it a lot by adding proprietary extensions to their Risc-V chips. Ultimatly it might drive prices down a bit though as there are no licensing fees like for ARM.
